Jamboree Heights Swim Club offer club competition every Friday in Terms 1+4.
– Warm up starts at 5:45PM
– Racing starts at 6:00PM
This is where we provide races for all our swimmers from Novice through to State and National level. It also provides swimmers with an opportunity to show their parents and coaches, newly learnt skills in a racing situation. All races are swum in a friendly non-threatening environment. Races are seeded according to current times of each swimmer on Swim Central, aiming to provide fair races for all swimmers. Boys and girls swim together for points, according to their times. Points are awarded for participation and improvement of personal best times (P.B.s). Most Improved and Age Champion swimmers are awarded trophies/medals at the last Club Night of each season – Club Champs.
Nominating for Swim Club Nights
Nominations for swim meets and club nights is online through the Swim Central website. Swim Central is the national operating system for clubs and members, this online portal links all your interactions with swimming; including your swimming Club, your Region, Swimming Queensland and Swimming Australia. To receive official times via Swim Central at our Friday Club Nights, swimmers must have at least a Recreational membership; for external swim meets, swimmers must have a Competitive membership. U8’s however only need a “Swimmer” membership for both Club Nights & external meets.
Any queries regarding nominations & memberships should be addressed to our Head Coach, Jasper (management.jhsc@gmail.com).
CLUB NIGHTS:
Club nights are held on Friday nights from October through to March of each year with a start time of 5.45 pm for warm up and a race start time of 6.00 pm.
Swimmers take part in races with their mates, their times are recorded and points are awarded. Club nights are FREE and open to all financial club members to provide a fun and relaxed atmosphere for swimmers to showcase their newly learnt skills and attempt to break their existing P.B’s. It is also a great opportunity for swimmers and their family to meet and socialise with other members. Food & drinks can be purchased from the Canteen. Swimmers must nominate through Swim Central if wanting an official time. Nominations close each Thursday night at 6pm. Late nominations must be requested to our Club Night coordinator, Jess (recorder.jhsc@gmail.com).
We also cater for those who are not wanting to get an official time and/or do not have a Swimming Queensland membership, with our Untimed 25m races in each stroke – all you have to do is show up!
Please Note – Club Night Roster
If your child is nominated to swim, parents are required to assist with timekeeping or in the canteen or BBQ to help our Club Night run smoothly. A parent roster will be prepared and issued on the night. Please check the roster upon arrival and make yourself available as requested. We appreciate your support! We also appreciate that you may be new to the Club, however all the jobs are pretty simple and there will be plenty of members to assist you. Many hands make light work and an early night’s finish!
WEATHER:
In the event of adverse weather looming (a thunderstorm and/or lightning) a decision to call off the Club Night will be made between 5.00-5.30 pm in the afternoon and communicated via email & our Facebook page. Club Nights are not cancelled due to rain. As soon as lightning is spotted or is deemed unsafe to swim by one of our coaches, all swimmers must exit the pool as quickly as possible.
NOTE: Swimming Australia’s lightning policy states that swimmers are not permitted back in the water until at least 30min after the last visible lightning strike.
